Blog Task 3: Adverts / denotation and connotation

Denotation and Connotation: In this Wate r Aid advert , I can see a little boy probably age 8-10 who looks angry / in pain.  The background represents the boy is in a hot country , as it looks like it is in the middle of nowhere. This advert uses all of them ideas; the young aged boy,, the background to make it effective to the viewers seeing the advert.  The phrase in the advert , " Dig toilets Not graves" is represented to the audience that instead of digging graves for people who don't have access to water they should be able to have toilets as a necessity. His facial expressions show he is helpless and in pain, this is effective because it shows the viewers he needs help and donations. The connection between "Dig toilets Not graves" implies that to dig a real working toilets it will help people in a country that dosen't have access to toilets .
