Demographics and Psychographics:
1) What information do media companies use to create a demographic profile of their audience?
Age, gender, race, social class, area
2) Why are media companies and advertisers increasingly using audience profiling and not just demographics?
Demographics is not an effective way categorising this is because people that are the same age or gender will have different interests.
3) What are the seven different Psychographic groups?
The aspirer , the succeeder , mainstream , the resigned , the struggler ,the explorer.
4) Write a brief summary of what each Psychographic group is seeking or motivated by.
The aspire is motivated by impressing others and driven by other peoples perception , The succeeder is responsible in society and seek out the best , The mainstream seeks for value of money and respond to big established brands , The resigned are predominantly older people an stick to things familiar to them , The struggler is people who live for today and are heavy consumers , The explorer seeks to try new things and often likes to try it first.
5) What psychographic group or groups do YOU belong in? Think about your own interests and lifestyle and explain your decision. Remember, you may fit into two or three different groups!
I think I belong in the explorer , this is because I like to try new things. Also mainstream this is because I respond to big established brands and stick to what I am used to.
